Baseball’s been an important part of Columbus’ sports scene since the 1860s. Columbus - and most of the country - got its first baseball team after the soldiers returned from the Civil War. The Buckeye Baseball Club of Columbus became the city’s first organized club in the spring of 1866. Columbus made the leap into professional baseball in 1876 with the Buckeyes. The first pennant winner was the 1892 Reds of the Western League. Learn more of Columbus’ baseball history in the Hall of Fame Bar, a full-service restaurant offering great views of the game.
