Enjoy live jazz from one of the world’s finest big bands, the Columbus Jazz Orchestra. Meet Artistic Director Byron Stripling, the former lead trumpeter and soloist with the Count Basie Orchestra.

Take a backstage tour of the majestic Southern Theatre before the concert. After the show, go on stage to mingle with the band and get your copy of the CJO’s “The Colors of Jazz” CD autographed. Columbus Jazz Orchestra Artistic Director Byron Stripling is known around the world as a trumpet virtuoso. He gained fame as the former lead trumpeter and soloist for the Count Basie Orchestra. Since then, he’s been the featured soloist with esteemed orchestras including the Boston Pops, the National Symphony and the American Jazz Philharmonic. Byron also has established himself as a singer. He starred in the lead role of “Satchmo,” a Broadway tribute to another trumpet great, Louis Armstrong, and was critically acclaimed for his work in “From Second Avenue to Broadway.”
